“No Future”: Egyptians Risk Their Lives at Sea to Reach Europe
Authorities say 43 Egyptians survived. A local NGO, Refugees Platform in Egypt (RPE), said it had received dozens of calls from desperate families seeking news of their relatives. From the Nile Delta village of Al-Naamna alone, RPE identified 13 missing people, including nine minors. In two villages in Sharqia Governorate, NGO executive director Nour Khalil said more than 40 families had requested help.
